The Mouse Podocyte mRNA Expression Database (updated April 25, 2015) contains mRNA expression data from FACS-sorted mouse podocytes as analyzed by RNA-sequencing (RNAseq).
Brief Methods: Glomeruli were isolated from Nphs2-Cre x R26mTmG mice by magnetic bead perfusion, pooled, and a single cell suspension was prepared (n = 3). GFP-positive cells were FACS-sorted, RNA was isolated and poly-A enriched cDNA libraries were constructed. Libraries were sequenced on an Illumina HiSeq device. Sequences were aligned to the mouse genome (mm9) using Tophat and mRNA abundance was assessed using Cufflinks. Reads mapping to the mitochondrial genome were not included in the database.
The work was performed at the Kidney Research Center Cologne and the Division of Nephrology of Boston Children's Hospital. Raw data can be accessed in the GEO database (GSE64063). Database is hosted by the Epithelial Systems Biology Laboratory (Mark Knepper, Chief) at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute as part of its Kidney Systems Biology Project.
